Ever seen these? They are black currants. They are NOT delicious to eat out of hand, but make absolutely superior juice and jellies.
Black currants are prized for their nutritional qualities: very high in vitamin C and antioxidants, they are also high in iron; the juice is used as a winter tonic.
Black currants are also used to make a liquor known as sirop de cassis: cook black currants with red wine and sugar, add vodka and let stand for several months; strain, and then drink to your health. My wife has made this and it is delicious! I don't know that it improved my health, but it sure made me feel happy!

Come take a stroll in our U-Pick black currant field, or enjoy fresh baked scones and pie while exploring our charming baked goods and garden plant store. A large playground makes the farm a fantastic place for a family outing as well!
Our U-Pick berries are $1.25 a pound. Berries can also be purchased already picked in our store, along with our baked goods, early produce, and beautiful garden plants.
U-pick and store hours are 8:00am-6:00pm, Monday through Saturday. We are always closed Sundays.
